Porsche has unveiled a new track toy for collectors at Rennsport Reunion in California. The new 911 GT3 R rennsport is the successor to the modern-day Porsche 935 that debuted in 2020.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport is an unrestricted version of the GT3 race car. Starting with the exterior, the GT3 R sports a bespoke aerodynamics package, topped off with a massive rear spoiler.
The GT3 R is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter flat-six engine that screams to 9400 rpm. It uses bespoke pistons and camshafts and has a higher compression ratio. The motor can also run on E25 fuel.
The engine is mated with a 6-speed sequential gearbox from the GT3 R, that sends power to the rear axle. The car rides on 18-inch BBS wheels shod with Michelin tires.
While most of the components have been borrowed from the GT3 race car, Porsche has made a few modifications to enhance the driving experience. These include an exhaust system, which can be fitted with mufflers and catalytic converters, a bespoke suspension setup and cameras instead of rearview mirrors.
The Porsche 911 GT3 R rennsport is a collector’s item with production limited to 77 cars. Naturally, with a price tag of $1.04 million, it’s not meant for your average track enthusiast.
