Yadav’s remarkable spell of 4 for 6 in three overs broke the back of Windies batting, while Jadeja’s 3 for 37 added to the home team’s woes.
The seven wickets shared by the two saw the hosts getting bowled out for just 114 in 23 overs. It’s also the first time that two left-arm spinners have picked up seven wickets between them for India in an ODI.
Ishan Kishan then led with the bat for India with an impressive 52 as India secured a five-wicket win.
After receiving the ‘Player of the Match’ award, Yadav said, “Perfect, the fast bowlers bowled really well with Mukesh (Kumar), Shardul (Thakur) and Hardik (Pandya). Me and Jaddu were brilliant. We hit the right lengths, which is what was necessary on this wicket.”
He added: “I’m just focusing on my rhythm, hitting the right lengths and it has been very nice. I thought it will be a seaming paradise. We are happy we (he and Jadeja) got seven wickets for our side. It was spinning a bit, and there was bounce as well.”
Yadav also said that he enjoys the company of fellow wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
“It’s always good to have competition, we just try to work together. When you have a senior like Chahal, it helps you and he gives a lot of advice as well. We enjoy each other’s company,” he said.
