Yadav bowled a spell of 4 for 6 on Thursday to set up India’s comfortable win in Barbados, after the visitors bowled out the Windies for a paltry 114. Ravindra Jadeja contributed with an equally crucial spell of 3/37, after which Ishan Kishan’s 52 led India’s five-wicket win.
“Seniors play a big role. When I brought changes in my game, Virat bhai and Rohit bhai supported me a lot. They have shown confidence in me. Also coach Rahul sir has backed me a lot,” said Yadav while talking to media after the match.
Talking about the spells bowled by him and Jadeja, Yadav said the Kensington Oval pitch had a lot of turn and bounce after initially helping the seamers.
“To be very honest, initially it looked like a good wicket for the seamers. Our fast bowlers, they bowled really well. When Jadeja was bowling, it was gripping and turning at the same time,” Kuldeep said.
“When I started from the other end, I got the drift as well as the turn. In the second innings, their left-arm spinner (Gudakesh Motie) and leg-spinner (Yannic Cariah) bowled well too and were getting bounce and turn. I think it was a good wicket for spinners as well.
“It would have been great if we have won the game by eight or nine wickets, but they bowled really well,” he said.
India opted to give their young batters a chance to show their credentials, as skipper Rohit batted at No. 7, while Virat didn’t come out to bat
“Sometimes you just want to give opportunity to the younger boys. Probably in the next game you will see the full side batting and hopefully we can win the second one and the series,” he concluded.
