With the Vikram lander transporting the Pragyaan rover in its cargo hold, the historic touchdown marked a monumental leap in India’s space odyssey, offering a fitting conclusion to years of relentless dedication by ISRO.
This achievement has propelled India into an elite league, making it the fourth nation – following the United States, China, and Russia – to successfully execute a lunar landing. However, India’s accomplishment is unparalleled as it has now etched its name into the record books by being the first to achieve a landing on the southern hemisphere of Earth’s solitary natural satellite.
The journey towards this momentous event began with the launch of the spacecraft from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre situated in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. On July 14, the Chandrayaan-3 mission embarked on its ambitious mission, culminating in this historic achievement that has ignited nationwide pride and admiration.
