Kohli has once again showcased his cricketing mettle by achieving the milestone of becoming the fastest batter to score 13,000 runs in the ODI format during an exceptional innings against Pakistan in the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup.With this feat, Kohli joined an elite group of five players to reach this landmark in men’s ODIs.
“Kohli is already in great form in the year 2023. There was a phase when he was not scoring big runs. It was not like he was out of form. He was scoring, but the kind of expectations he carried made people think that he was out of form. If he is not scoring centuries, that does not mean he is out of form, but fortunately, now he is playing well. His current form augurs well for India,” Rajkumar Sharma empathetically said to ANI.
Speaking about the significance of the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, Rajkumar Sharma highlighted that winning the title would provide a “big psychological advantage” to the team as they prepare for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
“It is a big match. The winner of the match will be the Asia Cup champion, and it will be a significant psychological advantage ahead of the World Cup. The preparation is good, and it is good to defeat all Asian teams before the World Cup. Naturally, this will give you an advantage. I am hopeful that India will perform well,” Rajkumar Sharma concluded.
The stage is set for an exciting showdown as defending champions Sri Lanka face India in the Asia Cup 2023 final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
