NEW DELHI: In a thrilling encounter, Alvaro Morata‘s double strike propelled Atletico Madrid to a 3-2 comeback victory against Feyenoord in their Champions League Group E clash. The match also witnessed a spectacular second-half performance from Atletico’s goalkeeper, Jan Oblak.
Feyenoord appeared to be the stronger side throughout the game and claimed an early lead, courtesy of an unfortunate own goal by defender Mario Hermoso. In the sixth minute, a rebound from Oblak, resulting from an Ayase Ueda effort, unintentionally ricocheted off Hermoso’s knee and into Atletico’s own goal.
Nonetheless, Atletico responded swiftly, with Morata finding the net from inside the box just five minutes later. Feyenoord regained the lead in the 34th minute, thanks to David Hancko’s strike from a rebound opportunity.
