Rekha Jhunjhunwala raises stake in multibagger smallcap, exits these 2 stocks

Ace investor Rekha Jhunjhunwala has raised her stakes in smallcap stock D B Realty by 57 basis points to 1.99% in the quarter ended September 30. She has also increased her equity in Fortis Healthcare while slashing it in Federal Bank.

Jhunjhunwala held 1.42% in D B Realty at the end of the June quarter.

As per the shareholding data available on the BSE, she has reduced the stake in D B Realty to 1.21% in July in multiple tranches but took it to 3.37% on September 13, and finally reduced it to 1.99% at the end of the month.

While on a net basis, the addition during the three-month period has been 57 bps over June quarter, Jhunjhunwala added shares and also booked partial profits in September on multiple occasions.

An analysis of the stock price movement shows that the stock moved in a narrow range of Rs 73-79 in July while picked up pace in August and September. On September 20, the stock made a closing basis high of Rs 172.75. Its returns over the last six months have been over 64% versus near 6% returns by Nifty50. The stock has been a multibagger and has given over 750% returns in the last five years.

She also increased her holding in midcap Fortis Healthcare by 20 bps to 4.66% during the September quarter while slashing that in Federal Bank by 20 bps to 2.01%.

The celebrity investor shed her stakes in Autoline Industries and Rallis India in July-September. Jhunjhunwala’s holdings, which stood at 2.52% and 7.75% in Autoline Industries and Rallis India, respectively, did not show up in the September quarter filings. Shareholding of individual investors is reflected in the ‘Shareholding Pattern’ of BSE listed companies on reaching 1% stake or above in the company.

Her portfolio’s net worth jumped 2.7% to Rs 33,907.9 crore in the quarter ended September 30 over the previous quarter, even as she trimmed her portfolio to 24 stocks in the quarter gone by versus 26 stocks in the previous 3-month period.

Jhunjhunwala’s portfolio returns were better than the gains in Nifty50 with the 50 stock index gaining 2.3% during this period.

According to data compiled by Trendlyne, Jhunjhunwala has retained her holdings in 21 stocks while altering positions in three stocks.

Other stocks in her kitty include Aptech, NCC, Nazara Technologies, Metro Brands, Geojit Financial Services, Va Tech Wabag, Jubilant Pharmova, Titan Company, Canara Bank, Indian Hotels Company, Tata Communications, Escorts Kubota, Tata Motors among others.

Jhunjhunwala’s largest holding is in Aptech at 23.4% followed by NCC and Nazara.

In October, the net worth of her portfolio stood at Rs 33,984.69 crore.
