NEW DELHI: The anticipation builds for the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) as 165 cricketing talents, including prominent names like England’s Danni Wyatt, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, India’s Priya Punia, and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin, are set to feature in the auction scheduled for December 9 in Mumbai.
In a statement released by the league, it was revealed that the auction will be a platform for an array of skilled players, with 104 Indians and 61 overseas players, including representatives from associate nations.The player pool consists of 56 capped players and 109 uncapped players, contributing to the diversity and talent on display.
With a total of 30 slots available across the five teams participating in the Women’s Premier League, there is keen competition for the 9 overseas player spots. The auction will see players vying for the opportunity to showcase their prowess in this premier league.
The auction promises excitement as Deandra Dottin and Kim Garth, both with a reserve price of Rs 50 Lakh, headline the event by choosing to be slotted in the top bracket. Additionally, four players have set their base price at Rs 40 Lakh, adding to the intensity of the bidding wars expected during the auction.
Cricket enthusiasts and supporters of women’s cricket can look forward to witnessing the strategic bidding and team formations during the Women’s Premier League auction, where cricketing stars will find new homes ahead of the upcoming edition of the league.
