Replacing five-time title winning captain Rohit Sharma, Hardik has a tough job at hand and all eyes will be on him as he takes up the mantle from one of the most successful captains in the league.
Prepping for the cricketing extravaganza at the DY Patil T20 Cup, Hardik recently opened up on personal life, pointing out he prefers remaining at home when not playing and hardly steps out.
“One thing my fans don’t know about me is that I don’t go out. I am a homeboy. I have hardly been out in the last three to four years; the only occasions I have stepped out is when it has been unavoidable, something happened with my friends. I like to stay at home. There was this time when I did not step out of home for 50 days. I didn’t even see the home lift. I have my home gym, home theatre. The things that I like are in my home,” Hardik said on a chat show with the UK 07 rider.
The 30-year-old, who prefers remaining away from the media spotlight, was asked about one of his photos in a super car that went viral on social media, to which he revealed that someone sent the car to him for a test-drive.
“Main kabhi media mein comment karta nahi hu, toh maine kabhi kiya nahi, na mereko farak padta hai (I don’t comment in media, I have never done it, it does not bother me),” Hardik said.
The injury during the World Cup forced Hardik to miss home T20I series vs Australia, the tour of South Africa and home T20I games against Afghanistan.
Ahead of the auction last year, Hardik was traded from Gujarat Titans and rejoined Mumbai.
