Watch: ‘Bat first, sorry bowl first’ – Shubman Gill’s goof up at toss | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: It appears that the new skipper Shubman Gill is gradually adjusting to his responsibilities as captain. Coming out for the toss for just the second time as Gujarat Titans captain, Gill encountered a confusing moment after winning the coin toss against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday.
After winning the toss against CSK at Chepauk, Gill said that his team would bat first but quickly corrected himself by announcing that they would bowl first.
“Bat first, bowl bowl first, sorry bowl first,” said a laughing Gill at the toss.

CSK made one change, bringing in Matheesha Pathirana for Maheesh Theekshana, while GT remained unchanged.
The incident reminded the brain fade moment of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma when he briefly forgot what to do after he won the toss against New Zealand in an ODI in January last year.
When asked by commentator Ravi Shastri what India will be doing after winning the toss, a puzzled Rohit could not decide whether he was going to bat or bowl. Eventually, after thinking for a good 15 seconds, Rohit told match referee Javagal Srinath and Shastri that India will be bowling first.
“I forgot what we wanted to do, had plenty of discussions with the team about the toss decision, just wanted to challenge ourselves under difficult conditions, but we’ll bowl first,” said Rohit after the toss.
