The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will cost $34,995, including a $1,395 destination fee, when it goes on sale later this year and offer up to a 319-mile range, Chevy confirmed again Monday.
The first Equinox EV to launch in coming weeks is the Launch Edition, priced at $48,995 and loaded with everything from heated front seats to a 3-year trial of GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system. That model won’t offer the same 319-mile range since it rides on 21-inch wheels, compared to 19-inch wheels on the base 1LT; Chevy had previously projected a number around 300 miles.
The five other FWD trims will be ready for purchase mid-year, Chevy said, while also confirming that AWD will be offered on the 2024 Equinox EV.
All versions priced so far will come with a single motor in front-wheel drive, and they will all qualify for the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit. Changes to the credit mean that eligible shoppers can take advantage of the credit at the dealer point of sale, instead of waiting to do their taxes. The base Equinox EV 1LT will cost $27,495 with the credit, effectively making it the most affordable new electric vehicle. The 2024 Nissan Leaf costs $29,235, but has a range of only 149 miles in the base configuration.
The Equinox EV is related in only name to the gas-powered Equinox compact crossover. It was redesigned for 2025, but the 175-hp 1.5-liter turbo-4 carries over on a new front-wheel-drive architecture.
The 2024 Equinox EV’s single motor makes 210 hp and 242 lb-ft of torque. Chevy says that a 288-hp dual-motor all-wheel-drive model will be available, but there’s no way to configure it yet. Chevy also confirmed Monday that the Equinox EV AWD has a 285-mile range and a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds.
The base 1LT FWD model comes well equipped with standard driver-assist features such as automatic emergency braking, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, and automatic high beams.
Standard convenience features include an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch touchscreen, and an 11.5-kw onboard charger that enables about 34 miles of range per hour, which should lead to a full charge on a 240-volt connection in just over nine hours. It can DC fast-charge at up to 150 kw, good for adding 70 miles of range in about 10 minutes, according to GM.
The 2LT FWD makes a big jump in price and starts at $43,295. Chevy adds an LED light bar to the front, as well as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated side mirrors. It’s the first model that can be had with dual-motor AWD.
The 3LT FWD costs $45,295 and rides on 21-inch wheels below its two-tone body. It has heated and cooled front seats, heated rear outboard seats, rear automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and available Super Cruise.
The 2RS ($44,795) and 3RS ($46,795) strike a sportier pose with black alloy wheels, a black lower front fascia, and other blacked-out trim elements.
Ordering opens “soon” for the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV FWD.
