FBR extends income tax return filing date for non-filer officers by Dec 6 – SUCH TV

The Federal Board of Revenue has extended the income tax return filing date for its non-filer officers by December 6, 2023.
Sources said that dozens of FBR officers did not file their income tax returns for the tax year 2023 despite the expiry date.
There are 3200 grade 17 and above officers in FBR and dozens of FBR officers did not file their income tax return.
The FBR on November 30, 2023, had extended the date of income tax return filing and also wrote a letter to Chief Commissioners IR with regard to the filing of income tax returns for the TY 2023 in the case of officers BS 17 or above -certificate regarding
As per the document, All BS 17 or above officers working under your administrative control are required to e-file their return for the tax year 2023.
Moreover, a certificate to this effect may kindly be furnished to the board or before 06/12/2023, the letter further stated that the requisite information duly signed by the respective Chief Commissioner IT should be emailed before the due date mentioned above without fail.
Recently, Chairman FBR informed the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue that 3.2 million people have filed their tax returns and the tax department has a target of over 6 million of tax filers during this fiscal year.
Sources said that FBR has served over 3 million tax notices to non-filers based on the record of NADRA.
It is pertinent to note that FBR received 4.8 million income tax returns during the last year 2022.
