This GMC Sierra Thinks Its The Buick GNX’s Wild-Haired Cousin

[ad_1]

  • This heavily modified 1990 GMC Sierra C3500 Dually features a 7.4-liter V8 engine, low mileage (61,300 miles), and is in overall good condition.
  • The most striking feature is the extensive Tridon SST body kit with outrageous styling cues.
  • Despite its unique features and recent maintenance, the truck failed to meet the reserve price at auction, with bids only reaching $9,100.

34-year-old pickups at auction? Yawn. But this one ain’t your grandpa’s rusted-out farm truck. No, sir. This is the vehicular equivalent of a mullet: business in the front (well, maybe not business, but definitely a massive 7.4-liter V8 engine), party in the back (hey, it’s a truck bed, use your imagination).

So, yes, it’s got a monstrous engine. But that’s just the beginning of its craziness. This thing looks like the supercharged Buick Grand National’s outrageous, sun-bleached cousin who spends weekends tearing up mud bogs and slinging shine.

It might take you a moment to peel back the layers of fiberglass to figure out what’s lurking beneath that Darth Vader facade, but it’s none other than a 1990 GMC Sierra C3500 Dually. Sporting an extended cab, it’s decked out with a crazy Tridon STT body kit, complete with box fender flares and over-the-top styling.

According to documentation included in the auction, it had an original MSRP of $20,600. Evidently, the buyer was willing to drop over half of that ($12,820) for the body kit you see here.

The front bumper gets integrated fog lights, while the grille, sun visor, fender flares, side skirts, bed cowling, and rear spoiler are all new pieces too. In addition, it has a custom cowl hood, aftermarket 16-inch wheels, and a custom exhaust system with quad tips. To put it simply, it’s one of the most unique trucks from this era on sale today.

On top of that, it features a V8 originally rated for 230 hp (171 kW) and 385 lb-ft (521 Nm) of torque. The truck also has just 61,300 miles on it and looks well cared for. The interior has some upgrades too. The velour upholstery is in good condition and an 11-inch Alpine infotainment system sits prominently on the dash. The seller says that it also had extensive recent work to prepare it for the sale.

That includes new ball joints, new brakes, new shocks, control arms, and tie rods too. The clutch fan is new too and all of the fluids have been replaced. That, along with a record of service, five keys, and the original window sticker and dealer paperwork would make this seem like a surefire success.

Despite all of that, bidders on Cars&Bids, where it went on auction this week, were only willing to spend up to $9,100 on the truck. That wasn’t enough for the seller and it failed to meet whatever the reserve was. Looks like even Darth Vader couldn’t force the bids any higher on this one.
