2 Chicago police officers injured in crash while swerving to avoid people on scooter

CHICAGO — Two Chicago police officers were injured after a crash Monday evening.

According to information from the Chicago Police Department, the officers were responding to a call around 7 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Laramie.

A man and a woman on a scooter failed to yield and forced the officers to swerve and get out of the way. When they swerved, they hit a parked car and both cars caught on fire.

Chicago police said the officers were using lights and or sirens at the time of the incident.

The officers were taken to a hospital in fair condition.

The people on the scooter left the area and are not in custody.
