2023-24 FA Cup: First Round – Bromley vs Blackpool

[ad_1]

Bromley seek to spring a First Round giant killing against Blackpool at Hayes Lane in 2023-24 FA Cup.

Victory would see Bromley reach the Second Round for the fourth time in their history, whilst Blackpool are looking to avoid a First Round exit for the first time since 2017-18 season.

Team News

Mitchell Bergkamp is ruled out for Bromley due to concussion.

Adam Marriott will also be sidelined with an unspecified injury.

Blackpool will be without Olly Casey after he was suspended for two further matches by the FA, having used inappropriate language after his red card in their League One defeat to Peterborough last weekend.

Kyle Joseph, Matty Virtue (both hamstring), Jordan Gabriel (knee) and Ollie Norburn (neck) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bromley host Blackpool at Hayes Lane on Saturday 4 November in a 5:45pm kick-off, live on BBC2 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • This is Bromley’s first-ever meeting against Blackpool in all competitions.
  • Blackpool are playing away at Bromley for the very first time in their history across all competitions.
  • Bromley are winless in each of their last five meetings against EFL opposition at this stage (D1, L4).
  • Blackpool are unbeaten in five of their last six FA Cup meetings against Non League teams (W4, D1, L1).

Prediction

Despite their poor First Round record in this competition, Bromley are currently in strong form with just one loss in their last 17 matches so will certainly be eager to showcase their quality here – especially with just one home defeat all season underlining how they can’t be underestimated.

The Ravens also have scored in nine of their last ten home matches in all competitions which adds further belief that they can cause a serious giant killing.

Blackpool likewise have been proven goal scorers this season but have lacked consistency results wise, whilst their defence is very leaky with one clean sheet in their last eight games – during which they conceded 16 goals and that could well be an area for Bromley to press and question hard.

If Bromley indeed do that then I wouldn’t be surprised if this match opens up into a cracker but Blackpool’s superior quality means that a clean sheet is unlikely, yet something in my instinct feels like the hosts might just continue their strong form and cause a cupset.

Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Blackpool
