2023-24 Premier League: Week 15 – Luton vs Arsenal
[ad_1]
Luton continue their fight against relegation in a home clash against Premier League leaders, Arsenal at Kenilworth Road.
Victory would see Luton stay 17th and potentially move five points clear of the drop if Burnley lose elsewhere, whilst Arsenal can stay top with a win and extend their lead to five points.
Team News
Tom Lockyer is a doubt for Luton with a back injury suffered in their loss at Brentford.
Teden Mengi (knee) and Alfie Doughty (hip) are doubts but Marvelous Nakamba (knee), Mads Andersen, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Dan Potts (all hamstring), Cauley Woodrow (calf) and Reece Burke (thigh) remain ruled out.
Arsenal could be without defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu after he suffered a calf injury during their win over Wolves.
Jurrien Timbers, Emile Smith Rowe (both knee), Fabio Vieira (groin) and Thomas Partey (muscle) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Luton host Arsenal at 8:15pm GMT on Tuesday 5 December at Kenilworth Road, live on Amazon Prime in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Luton’s first Premier League meeting against Arsenal.
- Arsenal are winless in their last eight top-flight away trips to Luton (D5, L3).
- Luton have kept two clean sheets in their last five home matches against Arsenal.
- Carlton Morris has won more aerial battles this season than any other Luton player, having won 62 of his 148 aerial battles.
- Bukayo Saka has been involved in 10 league goals for Arsenal this season, with five goals and assists apiece in 13 appearances.
Prediction
Having been outplayed comfortably at Brentford where three individual pieces of poor defensive play were clinically punished, Luton must now reset and look to make home advantage count after recent performances at Kenilworth Road with a resilient defensive effort.
Arsenal meanwhile will be relishing this clash given their superior firepower but after taking a two-goal lead against Wolves with an excellent intensity to their attack, they were pretty wasteful and lucky to not blow that lead despite conceding late on to a brilliant piece of play.
Kenilworth Road though has been quite a hoodoo ground for Arsenal in their last eight top-flight visits but given how both teams have evolved since that last visit 32 years ago, I just don’t see Arsenal losing here unless Luton produce an unbelievable performance.
Prediction: Luton 0-3 Arsenal
