2023-24 Premier League: Week 30 – Brentford vs Manchester United
[ad_1]
Relegation-battling Brentford host Manchester United at Gtech Community Stadium.
Victory would put Brentford up to 14th in the table if Crystal Palace lose in their trip to Nottingham Forest, whilst Man Utd will stay sixth regardless of the result unless West Ham beat Newcastle by four or more goals in the lunchtime kick-off and Utd lose here.
Team News
Sergio Reguilon is suspended for Brentford after he was red carded in their defeat at Burnley.
Christian Norgaard (back), Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry (both knee), Kevin Schade (adductor), Ben Mee and Ethan Pinnock (both ankle) remain absent.
Man Utd will be without Amad Diallo after he was sent off in their dramatic FA Cup Quarter-Final victory over Liverpool.
Altay Bayindir, Casemiro (both muscle), Lisandro Martinez (knee), Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans (both knock) could return if pass late fitness checks.
Luke Shaw (muscle), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Anthony Martial (groin) remain sidelined.

Stat Attack
- Brentford have won one of five previous Premier League meetings against Man Utd (W1, L4).
- Man Utd have won one of their two previous Premier League trips to Brentford (W1, L1).
- Mathias Jensen has scored in two of his last three Brentford appearances against Man Utd.
- No Brentford player has made more crosses this season than Mathias Jensen, who has created 78 crosses in 24 league appearances.
- Bruno Fernandes has been booked on more occasions in the league than any other Utd player this season, having been yellow carded on eight occasions.
Prediction
With a five-point gap to the relegation zone, Brentford are totally out of it but with Bryan Mbeumo now back in contention I hope that he, Ivan Toney and Yoane Wissa can quickly find their spark and cause issues up front for Utd’s shaky defence.
Man Utd meanwhile showed excellent grit and spirit to stun Liverpool in a FA Cup classic but they must use that performance as a launchpad to push for a top-four finish, otherwise they certainly will be in Europa League at best if can’t find consistency in this run-in.
Neither defences though aren’t the most impressive but given Brentford’s defensive crisis, Utd should really nick this.
Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Manchester United
