2023-24 Premier League: Week 32 – Fulham vs Newcastle
[ad_1]
Fulham entertain Newcastle at Craven Cottage in a huge clash in the battle for European qualification.
Victory would see Fulham climb to 11th if Bournemouth and Wolves both lose elsewhere, whilst Newcastle could go seventh with a win if West Ham lose elsewhere.
Team News
Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report but manager, Marco Silva will rotate his squad after a disastrous midweek defeat at Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle will welcome Anthony Gordon back from suspension which forced him to miss their 1-1 draw against Everton in midweek.
Lewis Hall is set to be available despite suffering from fatigue which saw him substituted against Sean Dyche’s Toffees.
Nick Pope (shoulder), Tino Livramento (ankle), Kieran Trippier (calf), Matt Targett (Achilles), Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles (both ACL), Lewis Miley (back), Miguel Almiron (knee), Sandro Tonali (suspension), Callum Wilson (chest) and Joelinton (quad) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Fulham host Newcastle at 3pm BST on Saturday 6 April at Craven Cottage, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Fulham are winless in their last seven Premier League meetings against Newcastle (D2, L5).
- Newcastle have won three of their last five top-flight visits to Fulham (W3, L2).
- Sean Longstaff has scored in Newcastle’s last two visits to Fulham in all competitions (W2).
- Rodrigo Muniz has scored five goals in Fulham’s last three home matches (W3).
- Alexander Isak has scored five goals in Newcastle’s last four matches (W2, D1, L1).
Prediction
Given their contrastable form at home and away, Fulham will be glad to be at home but after a woeful defensive display at Nottingham Forest, they must just continue their strong home form now if want a decent shot at European qualification and avoid defensive silliness.
Newcastle meanwhile were unlucky to not beat Everton but they were pretty wasteful when on top whilst a silly foul by Paul Dummett handed the Toffees a draw, so I would like to see some more composure if they’re to start finding more wins.
Throw in the fact that European qualification is at stake for both teams and I do expect this to be pretty close, but Fulham should have enough to take a draw given their home form.
Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Newcastle
