Roundup of a dramatic round of Boxing Day action in the Sky Bet Championship.

Jannik Vestergaard’s 93rd minute own-goal forced league leaders, Leicester to settle for a 1-1 draw at second-placed Ipswich, after having led through Stephy Mavididi’s 24th minute strike.

Leeds began Boxing Day sat third but suffered a 2-1 defeat at Preston as Liam Millar curled in a 89th minute winner, after Pascal Struijk’s penalty cancelled out Alan Browne’s headed opener following Illan Meslier’s red card for retaliation.

Southampton consequently thrashed Swansea 5-0 at St Mary’s to move up to third as Ryan Fraser netted twice in the space of 13 minutes, whilst Joe Aribo, Samuel Edozie and Che Adams all scored a goal each.

Brandon Thomas-Asante’s 50th minute winner proved enough for fifth-placed West Brom to beat ten-men Norwich, after the Canaries’ Borja Sainz was sent off in the first half after he was booked twice in the space of three minutes.

Jack Clarke curled in a 82nd minute winner as Sunderland won 1-0 at Hull to leapfrog the Tigers into sixth and round out the play-off spots, with the Humberside club slipped down to seventh.

Down in the relegation zone, Cohen Bramall struck an unintentional 72nd minute winner into the far-right corner from a deep cross as Rotherham edged past Middlesbrough 1-0 at home.

Sheffield Wednesday remained second bottom on goal difference after a 2-0 defeat away at Coventry, with Tatsuhiro Sakamoto having netted twice for the Sky Blues whilst Coventry’s Liam Kitching and Wednesday’s Bambo Diaby were red carded for a post-match fight.

QPR stay third bottom after the Hoops suffered a 2-0 defeat away at London rivals, Millwall, as Tom Bradshaw and Murray Wallace scored during injury-time of both halves respectively.

Jaheim Headley, Sorba Thomas and Delano Burgzorg all found the net for Huddersfield in a 3-0 home win over Blackburn, which saw Darren Moore’s Terriers move five points clear of the bottom three.

Elsewhere, goals from Mark Sykes and Andreas Weimann wrapped up a 4-1 win for Bristol City at Watford after Cameron Pring’s opening goal and Wesley Hoedt’s own-goal had put the Robins ahead, before Giorgi Chakvetadze briefly sparked hopes of a Hornets comeback.

Steven Schumacher recorded his first win as Stoke manager after Jordan Thompson, Lynden Gooch and Andre Vidigal netted in a 3-1 win at Birmingham City, although Jay Stanfield’s 69th minute strike denied the Potters a clean sheet.

Finally, Morgan Whittaker’s brace saw Plymouth eventually snatch a 2-2 draw at Cardiff after Matt Butcher’s own-goal and Karlan Grant’s strike saw the Bluebirds come from behind to lead.
