2023 Tata Safari base Smart variant in-depth walkaround [Video]

Tata Motors, back in October of this year, launched the brand-new Safari facelift in India. This time around, the company has changed the nomenclature of the variants, and the base variants of this car are now called Smart and Smart O. Recently, a first on YouTube, a video of the base Smart O variant has been shared. This video comes courtesy of Anubhav Chauhan on their channel.
Tata Safari facelift Smart O
The Safari facelift’s base Smart Optional variant, according to the presenter, starts at Rs 16.69 lakh (ex-showroom), and in Gurgaon and Haryana, the on-road cost is Rs 19.60 lakh. After this, he states that there are two base variants, the Smart and the Smart O variant. He adds that there is not much difference between the two base trims except for a few features.
Following this introduction, he starts with the exterior walkaround of the new Safari facelift base Smart variant. He mentions that from the exterior, not many people will be able to distinguish that this is a base variant of the Safari. He starts off with the key of the Safari facelift base variant and mentions that it does not get a set of remote keys; rather, it gets the same old manual key. He adds that the car does come with a manual central locking mechanism. After this, he shows the front of the SUV.
Exterior
The presenter states that the front of the car gets LED DRLs, gloss black grille, and a matte black lower grille with a silver skid plate. He adds that the car also gets a set of LED headlights as the top-spec variants. After this, the presenter moves to the side profile of the Safari facelift base Smart variant and states that it comes equipped with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The presenter adds that the company has decided not to go with wheel covers even in the base variants.
Next up, he adds that the car also gets matte black metal roof rails and manually foldable but electronically adjustable ORVMs. Following the side profile, the presenter goes to the rear of the car and mentions that it comes equipped with a new LED taillights design, a high mount stop lamp, and an integrated roof spoiler along with other design changes, including new LED taillights, a new bumper, and a silver skid plate. He adds the car does not come equipped with a rear windshield wiper and defogger.
Interior
Following the exterior, the presenter shows the interior of the Safari facelift Smart variant. He states it comes with grey-colored fabric upholstery on seats, a digital instrument cluster, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and an automatic climate control system. He mentions that the car misses out on a music system.
Engine
Next up, he shows the engine bay of the SUV. He states that all of the variants of the Safari facelift come equipped with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that makes around 170 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It gets a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission as options.
