Before going into the details, it has to be said that the Safari facelift already looked quite impressive online. However, real-life pictures make it look even more impressive. That being said, the first picture that has been shared is of the front of the new 2023 flagship SUV in the Tata Motors lineup.

From the front, as well as from all angles, it will be coming with the new modern-looking connected LED DRL. This LED DRL, just like the Nexon EV, gets the welcome feature, which provides a nifty party trick to impress new folks. It also gets the brand fascia with much brighter and powerful LED headlights, which are now vertically stacked in a rectangular housing. The front grille of this particular Dark Edition model was finished in all black, making it look a lot more menacing in person.

Side

Next up, the changes on the side profile have been kept minimal, and it only gets a new design of alloy wheels. Actually, the SUV gets two different designs for its new 19-inch alloy wheels. The Dark Edition gets a different design, while the standard models (Fearless and Adventure) get a different design. Additionally, the front two doors of the SUV now also get the Safari badging in its new font.

Rear

Moving on to the rear end of the new facelifted Safari, it can be noted that it largely appears to be the same as the outgoing model, with the exception of a few subtle yet differentiating changes. The rear LED taillights of the SUV have been changed, and now, like the front, they also get a connected strip in the middle. The actual shape of the LED taillights has also been reworked to add to the updated feel. Additionally, the rear bumper has been redesigned as well and has been given a skid plate.

From the first pictures that were released of the new updated interior, it was already noted that differences are huge. In person, these updates look even more impressive. The new Safari facelift, although it retains the same overall layout of the dashboard from the outgoing car, looks completely new and feels a lot more premium than before. The new interior utilizes much more premium materials and updated tech to make it feel like a luxury vehicle. It also gets a ton of segment-first features as well.

Features

Starting at the center of the dashboard, the main highlight of this interior is the all-new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment screen from Harmon. Another thing that can be noted is that the air conditioning vents have been given a much sleeker appearance. Moving a little below, it gets touch-based HVAC controls with toggle switches. Additionally, this climate control system is now dual-zone, which allows the driver and passenger to have different temperatures, just like premium vehicles.

Right in front of it, the steering wheel has also been updated, which now gets a four-spoke design with an illuminated Tata logo and buttons. The entire vehicle also gets ambient lighting along with 10 speakers from JBL.

Safety Features

In terms of the safety features in the new Safari facelift, it comes loaded. It gets 7 airbags, out of which 6 come standard across all variants. It also features ADAS with 11 features, including adaptive cruise control with stop & go function (AT only), autonomous emergency braking – including pedestrian & cycle, forward collision warning, rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot detection, traffic sign recognition, door open alert, lane departure warning, lane change alert, and high beam assist. Coming to the powerplant of the updated Safari, this SUV comes equipped with the same Kryotec 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine. It is the same engine that currently powers the outgoing Safari, generating a maximum power of 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. This engine will come available with a 6-speed manual transmission as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission. According to the company, the new Safari facelift will offer a marginal gain in the fuel efficiency figures, which will now be 16.3 kmpl for the manual and 14.5 kmpl for the automatic. It still does not get a four-wheel-drive layout.
