All-new 2024 Swift: 5 big changes
[ad_1]
The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a popular hatchback among customers since its launch in 2005. Over the years, we have seen several updated versions and generations of the Swift in the market. The international market even got a sportier version of this hatchback. However, in India, it has always been a car that appeals to both young and family buyers.
Suzuki recently unveiled the next-generation Swift concept at the Tokyo Motor Show and soon after, they also released teaser videos of the production version. The all-new Swift is expected to be launched in India next year. Here are 5 significant changes that we will see in the upcoming 2024 model of the Suzuki Swift.
Dimensions
The upcoming Suzuki Swift is based on an improved version of the Heartect platform. Many Suzuki models available in India use this platform. This makes the Swift larger in dimensions compared to the current model. The upcoming Swift will be 3860 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, and 1,500 mm tall. This is actually 15 mm longer than the current version of the Swift in India. However, the upcoming Swift will be 40 mm less wide and 30 mm less tall than the current generation hatchback. The wheelbase of the Swift remains the same at 2,450 mm.
ADAS
The Maruti Suzuki Swift might become the first car in the segment to offer ADAS features. While Suzuki Japan has listed these features on their website, we are not sure whether they will be available in the India-spec version. The test mules have been spotted with provisions for the ADAS features; however, we cannot confirm this yet. The ADAS suite in the Swift would come with Dual Sensor Brake Support, utilizing a camera and a laser sensor to detect vehicles and pedestrians. This system provides alerts, assists in braking, and can even apply brakes automatically in critical situations, significantly improving safety, especially during highway driving. Adaptive cruise control, Driver Monitoring System, Adaptive High Beam Assist, Lane Keep Supporting Function, and Road Sign recognition features are some of the other features in the ADAS. These ADAS features use the radar, sensors, and 360-degree camera placed around the car to ensure the system works efficiently.
Interiors
Compared to the current version of the Swift, the upcoming 2024 model will have completely redesigned interiors. The layered dashboard gets a panel finished in gloss. The dashboard and center console look different from the current version. It continues to offer features like automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, push start/stop button, and so on. The major attraction here is the new floating-type touchscreen infotainment system. It is the same unit seen in the Baleno and many other new Maruti Suzuki models. It gets the twin-pod analog instrument cluster with a color MID in the center. The seat covers also feature a geometric pattern that adds a premium look.
All-new Z-Series engine
The all-new Swift will also come with a new engine. The new engine, codenamed Z12, is a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder engine that will replace the current 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder K-Series engine. The new three-cylinder engine is said to generate a sufficient amount of low-end torque, making city driving easier. This engine is tuned to deliver good efficiency and driving performance.
CVT
According to reports surfacing online, the 2024 version of the Suzuki Swift will also get a strong hybrid version. The strong hybrid version will use a 1.2-liter engine paired with a 48V electric motor, helping the car achieve better fuel economy. The strong hybrid version is expected to return around 30 kmpl. The Swift would also be the first car in this segment to get this feature. The strong hybrid version of the Swift will be offered with a CVT gearbox as standard.
