Ford has announced some updates to the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E, which should help it compete even better against the Tesla Model Y. The Mustang Mach-E GT trim is now faster and each version has a longer driving range.
The Mustang Mach-E GT with the Performance Upgrade gets a new electric motor that provides an additional 100 lb-ft. of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds, which is faster than both the Model Y and the upcoming Porsche Macan 4 EV.
The GT also now comes standard with Ford Performance front seats, the MagneRide Damping System and Brembo front brake calipers, which were previously only included on the 2023 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition.
Ford developed a new rear eMotor for all trims, which weighs less and has improved torque. Thanks to the new eMotor and some other improvements, the Mustang Mach-E can now travel up to 320 miles on a single charge, which is a 20 mile improvement. With the standard range battery the Mustang Mach-E has a 250 mile range, which is also 20 miles longer. the Mustang Mach-E GT has a 280 mile range, which is a 10 mile improvement.
The extended range battery version can also charge almost 20 percent faster with a DC fast charger, which now takes 36.2 minutes to charge from 10-80 percent. The standard range battery needs 32.3 minutes to reach that same charge level. The good news is that Ford EVs now have access to the Tesla Supercharging network.
