2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N price and specs

[ad_1]

Hyundai Australia has now released full specifications for its hot Ioniq 5 N electric vehicle (EV), after announcing pricing last year.

The Korean brand says a global joint tuning program saw its Australian team contribute to the car’s suspension tune from early in its development cycle.

The Ioniq 5 N was tuned on Australian roads and receives a bespoke Australian setup for its Electronically Controlled Suspension, though Hyundai says “N mode is N mode – it’s the same in Europe as it is in Australia”.

With its first electric N car, Hyundai engineers have engineered various features aimed at making this large, heavy vehicle more engaging to drive.

N Active Sound + features three different propulsion sounds, one of which mimics a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

N e-Shift simulates the feel of gear shifts from a dual-clutch automatic transmission, with corresponding sound effects.

N Torque Distribution allows you to adjust the front and rear torque distribution, while N Pedal allows for one-pedal driving on the track and N Grin Boost allows you to receive the full 478kW/770Nm outputs for 10 seconds.

There’s also a launch control function and N Drift Optimiser, designed to help you drift.

It’s distinguished visually from other Ioniq 5s through unique orange accents, new front and rear bumpers, extended wheel arches to accommodate a wider track and a high-mounted triangular brake light, among other cosmetic changes.

It also rides on unique 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in 275/35R21 Pirelli P-Zero HN tyres.

Overall, it’s 80mm longer, 50mm wider and 20mm lower than a regular Ioniq 5.

Hyundai says it has increased torsional strength by 11 per cent, with 42 additional spot welds, 2.1m more adhesive, reinforced suspension mounting points, new subframe stay mountings, and reinforced cowl cross bar centre mountings.

Inside, there are unique front sport seats that are manually adjustable but feature heating and ventilation. You sit 19mm lower than in a regular Ioniq 5, and the upholstery is a mix of black Alcantara suede and leather.

There’s a unique centre console with thigh support pads on either side, while there are metal pedals and sill plates and numerous Performance Blue accents.

As expected of an N vehicle, there’s also a dedicated N menu, programmable N drive modes, and unique graphics for the screens and head-up display.
