The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has just touched down on Aussie shores and in addition to debuting with a host of welcome new features, the local range has grown with the availability of a new entry-level model.
Now found at the base of the Ioniq 5 range is a model fitted with a 58 kWh battery pack, as opposed to the larger 77.4 kWh pack of all other variants. This smaller battery pack drives a new electric motor at the rear axle with 125 kW (167 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Hyundai Australia says this model is good for 384 km (239 miles) of range with the standard 19-inch wheels and will set back shoppers AU$64,500 ($41,402).
Those willing to splurge a little more can order the base Ioniq 5 with the larger 77.4 kWh battery and a 168 kW (225 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) rear electric motor for AU$70,500 ($45,253). This version can travel 507 km (315 miles) on a charge, a very solid figure for a vehicle of this size.

Sitting in the middle of the range is the 2024 Ioniq 5 Dynamiq. This model starts at AU$76,000 ($48,784) with the standard 168 kW (225 hp) motor and AU$80,500 ($51,672) with a dual-motor system combining a 74 kW (99 hp) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) motor at the front axle with one at the rear adding 165 kW (221 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). This version is rated at 454 km (282 miles) with the standard 20-inch wheels.
Sitting at the top of the range is the Ioniq 5 Epiq. It is priced from AU$79,500 ($51,031) with the 168 kW (225 hp) motor and AU$84,000 ($5,919) with the 165 kW (221 hp) and 74 kW (99 hp) dual-motor setup. The Epiq has been updated for 2024 to include a digital rearview mirror and digital side mirrors.
All 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 models also now come standard with a heat pump, battery heating system, and battery conditioning. The base model also has seats upholstered in eco-friendly wool yarn – partly sourced from Australia – and eco-processed leather.
