We recently took a spin in the 2024 Lexus TX and the TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid is undoubtedly one of the most interesting variants.
It’s set to be launched early next year with a performance-oriented powertrain that consists of a 3.5-liter V6, two electric motors, and an 18.1 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the crossover a combined output of 404 hp (301 kW / 410 PS), which makes it the most powerful TX by a wide margin.
Thanks to the generous output, the TX 550h+ will be the fastest member of the lineup as it can scoot from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 5.9 seconds. More importantly, the model will have an electric-only range of 33 miles (53 km) and that’s impressive for a large three-row crossover.

However, getting your hands on the TX 550h+ might be hard as Lexus officials suggested the model may not be offered in all 50 states. While nothing has been officially announced at this point, we were told availability of the plug-in hybrid will be limited at launch. As a result, the automaker could prioritize ZEV states such as California, Colorado, and New York.
That being said, pricing and availability will be announced closer to launch. However, officials noted the TX 350 will be the volume model and that’s not surprising as it starts at $55,050. The TX 500h hybrid begins at $69,350 while the TX 550h+ will presumably be even more expensive as the RX 450h+ starts at $70,080.
Putting the plug-in hybrid aside, officials told us they have high hopes for the TX and expect the crossover to become one of their best-selling models. The company is also aiming to attract younger customers including Gen Y families.
