2025 Chevrolet Equinox gets major design and tech upgrades – The Torque Report

Chevrolet has announced a complete redesign of their best-selling family crossover, the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox.
The current third-generation Chevrolet Equinox has been on the market since 2017 (as a 2018 model). With the just-announced fourth-generation 2025 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet has made sweeping changes to the vehicle’s design to make it more appealing to a broader range of customers.
The exterior of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox banishes the softer, more conservative looks of the current generation for much more rugged looks. Up front, we find Chevrolet’s now trademark split headlight units with sleek DRLs set into the top of its grille with the actual headlights hidden lower on the bumper. A more upright, boxy profile gives the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox a distinctly solid look and features a shark fin-like design feature on its c-pillar, another styling element that appears to be propagating through the entire Chevrolet SUV family. The rear features a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse-inspired design with angular taillights and a blocky rear diffuser.
Chevrolet has added a new Activ trim to the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox lineup, featuring a more off-road focused aesthetic with unique 17-inch wheels, gloss black trim, model-specific grille, and a contrasting roof. The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox will also be available in base LT and RS trims, all featuring their own unique styling elements and interior design treatments.
The inside of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox has also seen a dramatic upgrade with improved materials and more thoughtful design throughout. Stylistically, the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox’s interior features crisp lines with interesting details like silver trim and round air vents, as seen in other recently introduced Chevrolet models. A new floating center console features a wireless phone charger, large cup holders, and a drive mode selector (on models equipped with it). The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox also receives a column-mounted shifter to free up space for the floating console. Standard across all 2025 Chevrolet Equinox is an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.3-inch central infotainment screen with built-in Google, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Motivation for the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox comes by way of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. This engine is an updated version of the engine featured in the current Chevrolet Equinox with improvements to its fuel economy numbers thanks to adjustments in software and calibration. FWD versions of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox will receive a CVT transmission as standard, with AWD versions receiving a new eight-speed automatic. RS and Activ trims will feature a drive mode selector with modes tuned for a variety of road conditions.
Standard driver assist features on the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, enhanced lane keep assist, rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, and more.
The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox is expected to begin arriving at US dealerships by mid-year, with pricing and additional details revealed closer to that time.
