LIVE: All Blacks rugby royalty spied in stands

A few familiar faces have been spied in the stands at Super Round.

All Blacks head coach Scott Robertson and forwards coach Jason Ryan were keeping a close eye on the contest between the Blues and Highlanders.

Ryan spoke with Stan Sport at half-time where he revealed the focus of their attendance.

“It’s a couple things; I guess it’s a bit of a blank canvas. There’s a bit of an edge around. We saw that in our camp in January. Everyone came in really sharp and that was good,” he said.

“Being here in one weekend, it gives the coaches a chance to get together and preview a few things.

“What we’ve seen in England so far, we’ve got them in two Tests, but also have a look at both sides of the ball as well, be all together at the same time. It’s awesome.”

Ryan said Robertson had injected “a lot of energy” into the All Blacks set-up since coming onboard.

“He’s made it really clear around what everyone’s role is and he’s slowly chipping away in the background with the leadership group,” Ryan explained.

“He’s really clear on what that should look like, especially the mental part of the game and dealing with pressure. We’re really looking forward to getting into it.”
