Two of the Burgess brothers were allegedly involved in a “kerfuffle” during South Sydney’s loss to the Warriors at Accor Stadium on Saturday.
Nine journalist Danny Weidler says eldest brother Luke and retired star George – twin of still-playing Tom – were invited to club co-owner and Hollywood icon Russell Crowe’s private box for the round five fixture.
But according to Weidler, the brothers arrived with three additional guests who were not on the invite list.

“There was a bit of a dispute,” Weidler told Nine’s 100% Footy on Monday night.
“They were criticised by the Souths official for bringing three extra people into Russell Crowe’s box.
“They were chastised about it and told they could cough up another $800 to have them there.
“The people they brought in were actually involved in Ramadan, they said they weren’t eating or drinking, they were just there.

“But it cause a bit of a kerfuffle and I believe (their mother) Julie Burgess left the game at half time… it caused a bit of a stink. I don’t know if Julie left because she was unhappy about what had happened with Luke and George.
“It’s something you will probably hear more about in coming days.”
The Rabbitohs and George and Luke Burgess are yet to respond publicly to Weidler’s claims. WWOS does not suggest the claims are true, only that they have been made.
George Burgess played 149 games for South Sydney and was arguably their best player during the famous 2014 grand final victory.
Luke played 51 of his 71 NRL games for the Rabbitohs, but was not part of the premiership team.
The Rabbitohs lost to the Warriors 34-4 on Saturday to slump to a 1-4 start to the season and remain on the bottom of the NRL ladder.
