The Ola electric scooter has gained popularity in the Indian market in a very short span of time. Just like all products, Ola scooters have both positives and negatives. Many of the issues that customers have faced in the past are featured on our website. We now have another issue surfacing online where a customer riding an Ola electric scooter was forced to jump off the scooter after the EV accelerated abruptly. A video has surfaced online where the frustrated customer is seen hitting the Ola scooter with a stick after the incident.

The video, shared by Itansh Bhatia on his Instagram page, is actually a reaction video that the Instagram influencer has posted online. In this video, the influencer mentions that the customer of the Ola S1 Pro scooter had a near-death experience when the scooter accelerated without any input. In such situations, riders would panic, as electric vehicles accelerate almost immediately. The rider, in order to save himself, is said to have jumped off the scooter.

In the circulating online video, we can see the rider angry about the scooter’s performance. He is so frustrated that he is seen hitting the scooter with a stick and damaging the ORVMs. He is seen hitting the touchscreen instrument cluster on the scooter with the same stick. The video does not mention anything about how the scooter was later brought to a halt. The video mentions that this is an unknown issue in the Ola scooter.

Frustrated rider breaking Ola scooter

This is not the first time we have come across an issue like this in an Ola scooter. During the initial days after the launch of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro scooter, many customers raised this issue and shared videos where the scooter was accelerating on its own. There were even incidents where the scooter got engaged in Reverse mode and accelerated rapidly. All these issues were later fixed by Ola with a software update.

This video was shared online a few weeks ago, and the exact date and location of the scooter are unknown. The reason why this happened is most probably a software glitch, and we hope that the issue is only limited to this particular scooter, and Ola would fix the issue soon. Other than this, we have also been getting reports about issues with the gen 2 Ola scooters. Many customers have reported the low build quality of the scooters. There have been a couple of cases where the rear shock absorber on the Ola S1 Pro scooter had simply collapsed and pierced through the underseat storage.

The recently launched S1 Air has also been facing issues. Several new scooters with only a couple of hundred kilometers on the odometer are refusing to start or have broken down. Many customers are not happy with the customer care or service center experience of Ola scooters too. People have even protested in front of the experience centers and have asked the brand to shut down these service centers due to their inability to provide good service to customers.
