DOD, or Displacement on Demand, and AFM, or Active Fuel Management, is the feature that allows your modern LS/LT to run on just 4 cylinders when going down the freeway so that it gets better mileage. This is all good, and works well, but when you want to build your LS engine for maximum performance these systems don’t work well. They are controlled by a different looking lifter that rides on the camshaft, and is very different than a normal roller lifter you’d find in a non DOD engine. But there are ways to eliminate the DOD/AFM function and you can do it with several kinds of kits.

In the video below, Richard is going to show us how to do a DOD conversion on the cheap! We’re talking cheap, real cheap, and ultra cheap options. Check out the video and let us know what you think. I think Richard just saved me some time and money.
