Archie Gray will not depart Leeds United this January despite interest from Premier League clubs.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Whites and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson insists there is “absolutely no way” the youngster departs as it’s “not good for anybody”.
As revealed by Football Insider, (17 November), Leeds are “confident” he will pledge his future to the club despite interest from Premier League sides, including Everton and Liverpool.
Gray, having made his senior debut this season, has emerged as a standout at Elland Road and has played in all but one game for the club in all competitions this season.
Robinson admitted that the 17-year-old will make his way to the top flight in his future, at Leeds or with a transfer, but now is too soon.
“There is absolutely no way that Archie Gray will move anywhere in January,” he told Football Insider.
“Whether it be the Premier League or anywhere else – he’s had a fantastic start to his career at Leeds.
“They will keep hold of him and he’s got a network around him of level-headed, very, very good quality football people.
“A move in January is no good for anybody. A move to the Premier League, whether it be Leeds [through promotion] or a Champions League club will come at some point.
“A move this winter will not happen.”
