2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 17 – Friday

[ad_1]

Rotherham face Leeds at New York Stadium in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash, with implications at opposite ends of the table.

Victory would see Rotherham remain third bottom but move to within one point of safety, whilst Leeds will stay third with a win.

Cafu and Sam Clucas are ruled out for Rotherham after the pair suffered hamstring injuries during their 5-0 loss at Watford before the international break.

Grant Hall (hip) could return but Daniel Ayala (hamstring) is a doubt for selection.

Tyler Blackett, Cameron Humphreys (both hamstring), Shane Ferguson (hernia) and Andre Green (Achilles) remain absent.

Leeds could be without defender, Sam Byram after he suffered a hamstring injury during their home win over Plymouth.

Djed Spence (knee) could return but Joe Gelhardt (hand) and Georgino Rutter (abdominal) are doubts and face late fitness tests.

Stuart Dallas (thigh) remains sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Rotherham host Leeds at New York Stadium on Friday 24 November in a 8pm GMT kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Rotherham have lost four of their last five meetings against Leeds (W1, L4).
  • Leeds have lost three of their last five away trips to Rotherham (W2, L3).
  • Each of the last four clashes betwen Rotherham and Leeds at the New York Stadium have ended in 2-1 results, with both teams winning two games apiece.
  • Rotherham have lost one of their last six matches at home (W2, D3, L1).
  • Leeds have kept just one clean sheet in their last four away matches (W2, L2), which came in a 1-0 win at Leicester earlier this month.

Prediction

Now under interim management following Matt Taylor’s departure and without Cafu plus Sam Clucas, Rotherham now need to regroup afteer their embarrassing defeat at Watford and deliver a strong performance to reignite their season.

Leeds meanwhile have found their groove with six wins in their last seven matches and dominated Plymouth in their home win before the international break, so I am expecting more of the same quality if the Millers remain as vulnerable as they have been this season.

Rotherham though have been difficult to beat at home but with Cafu and Clucas out, they have lost two creative players which I expect to be a huge blow but music to Leeds’ ears if they come and seize early control of the game.

Prediction: Rotherham 0-2 Leeds
