2023-24 Premier League: Week 13 – Brentford vs Arsenal
[ad_1]
Brentford host Premier League title-chasing Arsenal at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Victory will see Thomas Frank’s Bees climb to eighth if Brighton, West Ham and Chelsea all fail to win elsewhere earlier in the afternoon, whilst Arsenal can go top with a win if Manchester City and Liverpool draw in the lunchtime kick-off.
Team News
Nathan Collins is ruled out for Brentford after he suffered an ankle injury during Republic of Ireland’s loss to Netherlands.
Josh Dasilva (hamstring), Mikkel Damsgaard (knee) and Keane Lewis-Potter (calf) could return.
Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (hamstring), Kevin Schade (adductor) and Ivan Toney (suspnesion) remain absent.
Arsenal will be without Fabio Vieira for their next three league matches after he was sent off during their win over Burnley.
David Raya is ineligible to face Brentford due to having joined on loan from the Bees this summer, meaning that Aaron Ramsdale will start in goal.
Cedric Soares (illness), Ben White (knock) and Martin Odegaard (groin) are doubts and face late fitness tests.
Jurrien Timbers, Emile Smith Rowe (both knee) and Thomas Partey (muscle) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Brentford host Arsenal in a 5:30pm GMT kick-off at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 25 November, live on TNT Sport 1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Brentford have won one of their four previous Premier League meetings against Arsenal (W1, D1, L2).
- Arsenal have won one of their two previous Premier League visits to Brentford (W1, L1).
- Thomas Frank’s Bees have scored in three of their four previous Premier League meetings against Arsenal.
- Kristoffer Ajer has been booked in each of Brentford’s last two matches at home.
- Arsenal have claimed five points from three away trips to London-based opposition in the league this season (W1, D2).
Prediction
After having been outclassed at Liverpool a fortnight ago, Brentford now need to reset and focus on quickly rediscovering their clinical edge of recent weeks because they did play well at Anfield, yet a mixture of poor end product and moments of poor marking proved their downfall.
Arsenal meanwhile dominated Burnley but their end product was poor in the first half even though they made that crucial improvement after half-time to win, so I now would like to see them find that consistency across both halves here because this won’t be an easy game by any stretch.
Either way, this game does feel like it could be a cracker because Brentford relish these sort of games but defensively can be vulnerable, whilst Arsenal haven’t been at their best in defence lately with one clean sheet in their last four games.
My instinct therefore is that both teams will score but Arsenal’s quality might be the difference.
Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Arsenal
