The injury happened near the end of the first frame when Canucks forward Nils Hoglander laid a heavy hit on Tanev, who appeared to fall awkwardly. He skated off the ice gingerly, remaining on the bench for the final minutes of the period.
Tanev, 31, missed four weeks with a lower-body injury suffered in the Kraken’s season opener, making his debut Nov. 13.
The Toronto native has scored two goals in seven games since his return to the lineup. Last season, Tanev had career-highs in goals (16), assists (19) and games played (82).
Undrafted, Tanev signed with the Winnipeg Jets as a college free agent and remained there until heading to the Pittsburgh Penguins in free agency.
