Royal Enfield enthusiasts in India can rejoice as the long-anticipated Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is set to begin customer deliveries next week (first week of December). The revelation came at the MotoVerse 2023 event in Goa, where Royal Enfield disclosed the pricing for the much-awaited second-generation Himalayan. Priced at a competitive starting point of Rs. 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the dual-purpose adventure tourer positions itself as a compelling option against rivals like the BMW G310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure X. The range-topping variant is priced at Rs. 2.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 offers enthusiasts a choice of five vibrant color schemes: Kaza Brown, Salte Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, Hanle Black, and Kamet White. In comparison to its predecessor, the now-discontinued Himalayan 411, the new iteration boasts increased dimensions, a longer wheelbase, and a 10 mm higher ground clearance at 230 mm. The seat height varies between 805 mm and 845 mm, catering to riders of different statures.
Highlighting its adventure-ready features, the Himalayan 450 is equipped with an LED headlamp, LED turn signals, and brake lights. The motorcycle is built on a twin-spar tubular frame and features suspension components sourced from Showa, including 43 mm upside-down front forks and a linked-type monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes, supported by a dual-channel ABS system.
In terms of technology, the Himalayan 450 is not short on offerings. It boasts a circular TFT instrument console with Google Maps integration, a dedicated M button for Eco and Performance modes, a five-way joystick for seamless navigation through different functions, a USB charging port, a tall transparent windscreen, ride-by-wire throttle, split seats, metal braces around the fuel tank, a signature front beak, and a wide handlebar, among other features.
Rolling on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in tubed Ceat rubber, the Himalayan 450 will also offer tubeless tires as an option starting next year. Royal Enfield has opened bookings for the much-anticipated motorcycle, with deliveries set to commence officially next week across various states. Interested buyers can book their Himalayan 450 at authorized dealerships or through the online platform.
To cater to the diverse needs of touring and off-roading enthusiasts, Royal Enfield is offering a range of accessories for the Himalayan 450. The heart of the matter lies in its performance, where the new 452 cc Sherpa engine takes center stage. Generating a robust power output of 40.02 PS and 40 Nm of peak torque, the powertrain is paired with a six-speed transmission, and a slip/assist clutch comes standard, ensuring a powerful and controlled riding experience on and off the beaten path. Get ready to embark on your adventure with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
