2023-24 Sky Bet Championship: Week 19 – Saturday
[ad_1]
Leeds host Middlesbrough at Elland Road in a standout Sky Bet Championship clash.
Victory would see Leeds stay third in the table, whilst Middlesbrough can climb to sixth with a win if Hull, Blackburn and Cardiff all lose elsewhere.
Team News
Joe Gelhardt is ruled out for Leeds with a hip injury.
Junior Firpo (hamstring) is also ruled out whilst Stuart Dallas (thigh) remains sidelined.
Middlesbrough could again be without Hayden Hackney (groin) and Dael Fry (hamstring), after the pair missed Boro’s midweek win over Preston.
Lukas Engel (hamstring), Darragh Lenihan, Tommy Smith (both Achilles), Lewis O’Brien (ankle/leg), Riley McGree (foot) and Marcus Forss (thigh) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Leeds host Middlesbrough at Elland Road in a 3pm GMT kick-off on Saturday 2 December in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Leeds are unbeaten in four of their last five meetings against Middlesbrough (W2, D2, L1).
- Middlesbrough are winless in their last five visits to Leeds (D2, L5).
- Two of Leeds’ last four meetings against Middlesbrough at Elland Road have ended in 0-0 draws.
- Leeds have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight matches (W6, D1, L1), which came in a 1-0 away win at Leicester.
- Matt Crooks has produced one goal and assist in Middlesbrough’s last two matches.
Prediction
Although they continue to push for promotion, Leeds must improve their defensive record because they do seem very vulnerable as Swansea exposed in the opening minute, yet their attack and clinical end product is their best weapon which will certainly face a tough test here.
Middlesbrough meanwhile rebounded from their defeat at Bristol City last weekend with the perfect result against Preston, where they were just dominant and clinical with no shots against them on target but they can’t be fooled by that result because Leeds will be a harder team to quieten.
Both teams though do look pretty well matched at present because neither have the strongest defensive record lately, but a draw should be possible if Boro can frustrate players like Georginio Rutter, Daniel James and Joel Piroe.
Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Middlesbrough
