Jimny 4X4: What does it feel like to live with [Video]

[ad_1]

Maruti Suzuki launched the Jimny earlier this year, and it was one of the most awaited 4×4 SUVs from the Maruti stable for years. Enthusiasts were extremely excited about this SUV, and many of them bought it too. People who bought this SUV have shared several videos related to modifications, body kits, and even ownership reviews. When compared to other lifestyle 4×4 SUVs in the market, the Jimny is a lot more practical. However, due to various reasons, we are not seeing this SUV on the road in large numbers like the Mahindra Thar. Here we have a video where a YouTuber shares his experience with the Jimny after using it for over a month.

The video has been shared by “Content with Cars” on their YouTube channel. In this video, the presenter starts by apologizing for not posting any videos on his channel for a very long time. He mentions that the reason for the delay in posting videos was the Jimny. After getting the Jimny, he started exploring new places, going on road trips, and even driving to places where there are literally no roads. He has genuinely enjoyed all his off-road trips with the Jimny. However, in this video, he speaks about how the Jimny is to drive on the road.

He says that it is not the most fun car to drive on the road. When compared to the Mahindra Thar, the Jimny offers better ride quality and better seats, which are very helpful during long road trips. He also mentions that the large windows in the Jimny ensure that he gets a clear vision of things around. The cabin feels extremely airy, and his son enjoys the rear seat a lot. He also mentions that the SUV is not too wide, which makes parking or driving through narrow gaps much easier.

Jimny long term review

The plastic claddings on the fender and wheel arch ensure that the body doesn’t get any scratches. He talks about how heavy the steering on the Jimny feels. He mentions that it is not a car meant to be driven in the city. Parking this car may take time, and when compared to the Mahindra Thar, it has a larger turning radius. It also lacks storage spaces in the cabin, which is not something you appreciate when you are on a road trip. However, he mentions that the simple design of the dashboard and instrument cluster looks neat, and even after completing 5,000 km, there are no rattling sounds from the car.

The car he is driving in the video is a media unit. The touchscreen infotainment system comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is quite useful. He then continues to talk about fuel efficiency. He has been getting around 8-10 kmpl in the city, while on highways, he has managed a maximum of 18 kmpl. This is not the most efficient Maruti available on sale, and that is because of the design and the transmission. The engine feels like it is stressing too much at higher speeds. The engine does feel underpowered when you try to overtake, but he has gotten used to it.

He also feels that Maruti could have actually priced the Jimny a lot more competitively. He ends the video with the thought that the Jimny, like any car, has positives and negatives, and if you are a person willing to compromise on some things, you’ll definitely love driving this vehicle both on and off-road.
