Cyclone Michaung has been wreaking havoc in Chennai and surrounding areas. People are stranded all over the city. Here is how two people stranded in a Land Rover Range Rover reacted when help arrived in a Mercedes-Benz E-Class. One of them climbed on the bonnet of the sedan.
The two video from Chennai City shows the whole episode. First, two people travelling in a Range Rover got stranded after the water reached the windowline of the vehicle. The Range Rover likely got hydrolocked after which it could not move forward.
The second video shows one of them trying to climb the bonnet of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and slipping multiple times. While the whole act of climbing on the bonnet of the Mercedes-Benz is playful, it does look like the guys in the Range Rover called for help.
The people inside the E-Class seem to be not minding the person climbing on the vehicle’s bonnet. We are not sure about the further details of this video.
While many might argue about how the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, which is a sedan is sailing through the water-logged roads while the Range Rover SUV got stranded. But if you notice, both the vehicles are parked in different locations. The Range Rover is in a much deeper water compared to the Mercedes-Benz.
We are also not sure about what they were doing with their vehicles when the incident happened. Most of the Chennai roads are flooded and there are many who are stranded inside their homes as the water level rose so high that help could not arrive.
If your vehicle gets stuck in the middle of a flooded road, it’s important to stay calm. This is a common problem that cars face when driving through heavily waterlogged areas, especially at high speeds. When water enters the air intake, it can cause the engine to shut off, bringing the car to a stop.
If your car stops working due to water damage on the road, it’s crucial to avoid trying to restart the engine. Attempting to start the car can cause further damage, as the presence of water affects the combustion process. Instead, it’s best to seek help from professionals who have the expertise to handle hydrolocking and safely move the vehicle using specialized equipment like cranes or tow trucks.
Cars damaged due to flood
Numerous vehicles were damaged due to the cyclone in Chennai. Earlier videos shared by a user named “vittoba.balaji” on X (formerly Twitter) show a row of cars parked outside an apartment in Chennai being carried away by rising floodwaters in the Pallikaranai area. The video captures floodwaters surging from a nearby canal near the apartment, impacting around 15-16 parked cars. As the force of the flowing water increases, the cars are swept away from their parking spots, and carried along the water down the lane. Additionally, a few trees are observed being washed away by the floodwaters.
