Waterloo regional police believe an early Saturday morning shooting in Kitchener was targeted and they are now trying to identify someone they believe is connected to the incident.
Officers responded to multiple reports of gun shots fired into a crowd in a parking lot near Weber Street East and Kinzie Avenue, in the Centreville area, shortly before 2:30 a.m. EST Saturday.
A 24-year-old woman sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was sent to an out-of-region hospital, police say.
There was significant police presence in the area on Saturday while investigators canvassed the area, searching for the shooter.
Police later released several images from security camera footage: one of a vehicle police believe was involved and two showing a person investigators want to identify and speak to — although their face is hidden.
The photos of the person show they were wearing an Air Jordan hoodie, light-coloured pants and white sneakers while hopping a gate at 2:24 a.m. Saturday. The hood of the sweater reads, “Paris.”
Police suggest anyone who sees the person should stay away from them, opting to call 911 instead.
Police continue to investigate.
