One week after a Carpentersville teen went missing, authorities were searching a pond in Vernon Hills near a bowling alley where she was supposed to attend a work party.
Carpentersville Police Deputy Chief Kevin Stankowitz said the vehicle was a Nissan SUV and the same color as Brissa Romero’s vehicle. However, they have not been able to confirm it is the same car and are working to pull the vehicle from the pond near Executive Way and Lakeview Parkway.
Vernon Hills and Carpentersville police have scheduled a joint news conference at 4 p.m. today for recent developments in the case, including the “likely recovery of her Nissan Rogue.”
An electronic device belonging to Romero last pinged around 7:40 p.m. last Monday in the vicinity of the Bowlero bowling alley in Vernon Hills, where co-workers from the Crystal Lake Raising Cane’s restaurant had gathered for the party.
Police, however, have nothing to show Romero attended the party.
Romero, the youngest of five children, last spoke with her mother around 6:55 p.m. Monday, oldest sister Dulce Romero said.
