A 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday saw United finish bottom of their Champions League group, missing out on Europa League qualification in the process.
Ten Hag is under mounting pressure having also suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth on Saturday. His side head to Liverpool this weekend – where they were thrashed 7-0 by their arch-rivals last season.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s imminent arrival at the club has raised further doubts over ten Hag’s future with reports this week suggesting former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is being lined up to replace the Dutchman.
Evans, who returned to his boyhood club this summer, remains fully behind the manager and believes there will be chances for him to add to his squad when the transfer window reopens next month.
‘He [Ten Hag] is a fantastic coach and I have no doubts about him,’ Evans told Norway’s TV4.
‘In January we get a new window and a chance to improve the team. Not playing in Europe will give him more time.
‘We’ve a tough period but hopefully, we’ll get players back from injuries and get more consistency in the team It would be good for him [Ten Hag].’
United are reportedly keen to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy in January, with the 27-year-old scoring 18 times in 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
They may be forced to sell before they can buy, however, with six players possibly in the frame to be moved on.
Jadon Sancho is expected to leave next month having been exiled from the first-team squad back in August after his public falling out with the manager.
Donny van de Beek also looks to be approaching the end of his time at the club.
United are also open to offers for Anthony Martial while Raphael Varane and Casemiro could also leave with United expecting interest in the pair.
