The German luxury car manufacturer BMW launched the all-new XM luxury SUV in India last year. It is currently the most expensive BMW SUV in the market and also the first-ever M model from BMW to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The XM is the second standalone product under the M brand after the legendary M1. The SUVs have started arriving at dealerships across BMW’s establishments in India. Here is a video where a vlogger gives a proper walkaround of this plug-in hybrid XM SUV, which returns around 62 km per liter.
The video has been shared by Mohit Advani on his YouTube channel. The vlogger himself owns a BMW X7 luxury SUV but keeps repeating in this video that this is a car he wanted to buy. The only reason why he couldn’t was because it was way out of his budget. He starts by talking about the exterior, then moves to the interior, and finally shares his driving experience.
On the outside, the BMW XM features a very large M Kidney grille with twin LED headlamps and LED DRLs just above it. The front bumper looks sharp and edgy, giving it an extremely sporty look. The large air intake at the front also contributes to this appearance. The kidney grille at the front actually has an illumination function.
The side profile of the SUV reveals its considerable length. It’s a huge SUV, and the edgy look at the front is evident here as well. The design is similar to the iX SUV. The car comes with 22-inch M wheels, with the option for customers to upgrade to 23-inch units. The design of the wheels is exclusive to the XM, unavailable in any other BMW family car. As this is meant to be a performance-oriented SUV, there are chrome elements present on the car. Gloss black or piano black cladding and lower window garnishes are visible on the SUV.
Similar to the front, the rear of this SUV also exhibits a very angular or sharp design, appearing aggressive. The L-shaped elements in the all-LED tail lamps also look extremely good. There are vertically stacked exhaust tips at the rear with black inserts around them. The cabin of this XM was finished in a shade of blue and brown material with decent use of carbon fiber.
Upon entering the cabin, the first thing one would notice is the large 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. There is a larger 14.9-inch screen on the dashboard used as the touchscreen infotainment system. Red-colored M mode buttons can be configured by the driver for their driving style. The car features several storage compartments, bottle holders, ambient lights, four-zone climate control, a premium sound system, and ADAS features too.
The vlogger takes the car for a spin and comes back with a smile on his face. He repeatedly emphasizes in the video that if you have Rs 3 crore, this is a great SUV one can buy in the country today. The BMW XM is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged petrol engine, which along with the electric motor, generates around 653 PS and 800 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and the SUV has a range of 88 km in EV mode. It can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds and can be used in both 2WD and 4WD modes.
