Sometimes, people shoot their shots in the dark despite knowing that they will most likely face disappointment. However, every once in a while, these shots do end up at the target, and it makes taking these shots worth it. In a similar example of such a shot, a tractor driver from Assam managed to enter a lottery and win it. What’s astonishing is that the prize of this lottery was a Range Rover luxury SUV worth Rs 75 lakh. The tractor driver, in his interview, stated that he could not sleep on the night he found out that he won this SUV.
According to reports, the winner of this brand new Range Rover is Inzamamul Haque. He is a tractor driver from Barpeta district in Assam. He, along with his brother-in-law Saiful Islam, bought tickets to a lottery organized by the Howly Raas Festival celebration committee.
Both of them purchased the tickets for only Rs 100 each and both awaited the results. Following their wait, it was reported that Haque won a Range Rover worth Rs 75 lakh. And what’s even more astonishing is that his brother-in-law Islam also won the 16th prize, which was a Maruti Wagon R.
During his interview after his win, Inzamamul Haque stated, “I was at home when one of my friends shared the list of winning numbers. I cannot tell you how happy I was when I discovered that I had, in fact, won the first prize.” He added, “After hearing the news, I could not sleep the entire night.” Haque concluded by stating, “I hoped to win a prize. I am a poor tractor driver, and I thought if I win one, it might change my fortune.”
Lottery prize: Range Rover
At the moment, there are reports on which exact model of Range Rover Haque has won. However, most likely it is a Range Rover Evoque, as only the Evoque is priced around Rs 75 lakh in the entire Range Rover lineup. The Range Rover Evoque, which is the entry-level model, comes equipped with two powertrain options.
The sporty-looking SUV comes offered with a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor comes coupled with a 48V mild hybrid system and makes a maximum of 247 bhp and 365 Nm of torque. While the 2.0-litre diesel motor, on the other hand, makes around 178 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque. As for the transmission, both engines come mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Auto driver who won a Rs 12 crore lottery
Back in 2021, it was reported that an auto driver named Jaypalan bought a lottery ticket of Onam Bumper and won a massive prize money of Rs 12 crore. Jayapalan, during his interview, said, “I was blank after knowing the results. I cross-checked many times whether the number of my ticket and the one that won the first prize were the same or not. I just told my mother about winning the lottery but did not mention the prize money.” He then revealed that the next day he revealed this to his wife and kids that he won Rs 12 crore in a lottery.
