Superbikes and cops are a combination that doesn’t always go hand in hand. We’ve encountered several instances where cops have actually stopped superbikes due to loud exhausts and fined their owners for the noise. While many officers take issue with superbikes, there are others who genuinely appreciate these machines. Here, we have a video of a cop taking a Kawasaki Z900 superbike for a spin. He posted the video online, referring to it as his dream.
The video was shared by Rohit Kumar, a police officer. He is seen riding a Kawasaki Z900 superbike, wearing a proper riding helmet, and taking it for a short spin. He shared the video on his personal profile with the caption, “Sapna hai lekin ek din jarur pura hoga” (This is a dream that will definitely come true one day). The officer truly aspires to own this superbike someday.
The superbike culture in India has grown significantly over the years. The two-wheeler market is no longer solely about commuter segments; there’s now a variety of brands available. The Kawasaki Z900 is particularly popular among bikers, boasting a large fanbase, with Rohit Kumar counted among its enthusiasts. The video posted by the police officer has already garnered over 59,250 likes and more than 175 comments, some of which are quite interesting.
One user wrote, “Good to see you people in this culture. The car and biking community will grow more in India when they receive support from cops.” Another asked, “Sir exhaust company ka hai na” (“Sir, is the exhaust legal?”) Most users appreciated the police officer, and many expressed a desire to meet him in person. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a cop showing interest in superbikes.
Recently, a video from Tamil Nadu surfaced where cops showed interest in BMW’s adventure tourer motorcycle. The Z900, featured in the video, is a powerful machine—a 948-cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder motorcycle that generates 125 Ps and 98.6 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox and features technology like riding modes, traction control, ABS, and more. The price for a brand new Kawasaki Z900 is around Rs 9.20 lakh, ex-showroom.
There are police officers in India who own superbikes. We recently came across the profiles of not one, but two officers from the Kerala police who own Triumph Daytonas and Kawasaki Z800 superbikes. Both these young cops own multiple superbikes, such as the Honda CB 600RR, Yamaha R15 V3, Honda CBR 650F, Honda CBR 150F, and so on. Returning to the featured video, Rohit Kumar is seen riding a bike with a helmet; however, the bike is missing RVMs (Rear View Mirrors). Riding a bike without ORVMs is an offense, and the department can issue a challan against the rider or the vehicle for the same.
Just like used luxury cars, Buying a superbike is much easier task these days as there are many dealers selling old or used superbikes at affordable prices across different parts of the country. However, maintaining these machines is no easy task.
