One man has died following a shooting Friday night in Hamilton, police say.

Hamilton police are investigating after a shooting Friday night left one man dead.

Police said they were called to the area of York Boulevard and Queen Street in Hamilton shortly after 10:45 p.m.

Officers located a man who was shot. He was taken to hospital where he died as a result of his injuries, police said. 

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Hamilton man Daniel Musafiri.

Investigators say they are looking for suspects in connection with the incident.

“Suspects were seen fleeing the area. At this time, there is no suspect or vehicle descriptions,” police said in a news release Saturday.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. There will be heavy police presence in the area as officers investigate.
