Maruti Jimny prices to go back up: Details
[ad_1]
In December 2023, Maruti Suzuki unexpectedly introduced some incredibly lucrative price benefits on Jimny to give an immediate push to its sales and clear dealer stocks for 2023. However, Maruti Suzuki has stated that those benefits will not be continued from this month, confirming that the off-roader will be more expensive to buy than what it was last month after the discounts.
Maruti Suzuki introduced a few benefits on the Jimny in December 2023, which included a Rs 2 lakh cash discount on Zeta and a Rs 1 lakh cash discount on Alpha variants. The carmaker was also offering a “Thunder Edition” kit for free to all the customers of Jimny, which included a few add-on accessories for the exterior and interior. However, from January 2024, all these discounts have been nullified. However, Maruti Suzuki still might offer a few discounts to keep the strong momentum going, which was generated last month.
According to Shashank Shrivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, the heavy discounts on Jimny were offered in December 2023 to clear the 2023-manufactured units of the off-roader at dealerships. Maruti Suzuki didn’t want to carry forward the stocks of last year in the new calendar year, hence the price cuts were offered. The discounts were also offered following the sales performance of Jimny in November 2023, which were lower than the high expectations set by Maruti Suzuki for the off-roader.
Maruti Suzuki has also clarified that these discounts offered in December 2023 were not price cuts, but temporary benefits offered on the off-roader. It means that the off-roader will still carry the same ex-showroom prices, which start at Rs 12.74 lakh for the Zeta manual. However, the carmaker might offer decent discounts in January 2024, which might not be as heavy as they were in December 2023.
Launched in June 2023, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is being offered in two variants – Zeta and Alpha. Both these variants are available with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which claims 104 PS of power and 134.6 Nm of torque. Both these variants of Jimny are on sale with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. The only competition Maruti Suzuki Jimny faces in India is that from the three-door Mahindra Thar, which is also set to receive a larger, more premium and more expensive five-door version this year.
Maruti Suzuki to launch many new products
Maruti Suzuki, after a successful year with launches like Fronx, Jimny, and Invicto, is now setting its sights on 2024 with some groundbreaking new products. The first major launch expected from Maruti Suzuki in 2024 is the all-new fourth-generation Swift, which has already made its debut overseas. The new Swift boasts a sleeker and sharper design compared to the current-generation version sold in India, with angular headlamps and tail lamps giving it an evolutionary look.
Following the launch of the new Swift, Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce the sedan version, the Dzire, in the first half of 2023. The new-generation Dzire will have a distinct design apart from the hatchback, just like the current model. The cabin layout is expected to be similar to the new Swift, featuring a floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, updated center console, and added features like a 360-degree parking camera and wireless charger.
The Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV concept has been spotted during trial runs in the country, indicating that the production version is near completion. The eVX electric SUV is likely to hit the Indian market in the second half of 2023, possibly before the festive season, as the test model appears to be almost ready for production.
