The NFL fined Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper $300,000 on Tuesday for his conduct in Jacksonville after a game against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Video surfaced of the billionaire throwing the contents of a drink in the direction of Jaguars fans from his suite following a 26-0 loss at Jacksonville.
“All NFL personnel are expected to conduct themselves at all times in ways that respect our fans and favourably reflect on their team and the NFL,” the league said in a statement.
The Panthers have been a disaster on the field this year, already securing the league’s worst record. But they will not get the first-overall pick in the draft as the Panthers traded their selection to the Chicago Bears last off-season to land the 2023 first pick — quarterback Bryce Young.
The Panthers are an abysmal 31-67 since Tepper bought the team in 2018, failing to make the playoffs in each of his six seasons.
The team fired first-year head coach Frank Reich earlier this season, marking the third time in Tepper’s tenure in which he has made a mid-season coaching switch.
