Legendary Nigerian midfielder Mikel Obi has revealed reason he does not dream of becoming coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The former Super Eagles captain in an interview on CNN expressed willingness to take up a role with the Super Eagles but was fast to mention he will not accept to coach the team.

Mikel was clear about his fear of getting sacked, normal phenomenom associated with coaching at all levels.

Also, the former Chelsea midfielder’s reluctance to take on a coaching role stems from his concerns about potential challenges and the pressure associated with being a manager. Instead, he envisions playing a pivotal role in addressing structural issues and contributing to the team’s success from an administrative standpoint.

He said “I would love to get involved with the Super Eagles, but not as a manager. I don’t want to get sacked, and I don’t think I can handle that very well.

” I want to be involved with the national team as someone trying to fix the problems from the top,” Mikel, who has won two English Premier League titles,” Obi stated.

On how he intends to help the Super Eagles, the former Nigeria national team skipper revealed he knows where and how to start.

He added “If it means to be a mediator between the players and the NFF to make sure things are run properly and have the right people managing what we should do together to make sure that we succeed.

” Success doesn’t happen only on the pitch but from the top. So for me, that’s where we should start. ” he said.
