NEW DELHI: After an impressive performance in the last two weeks, India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty regained the top spot in the BWF men’s doubles rankings.
The champions of the Asian Games achieved the world no. 1 ranking for the second time, following consecutive runner-up finishes in the Malaysia Open super 1000 and India Open super 750 badminton tournaments.
The Indian pair had initially secured their top-ranking status after winning the historic gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou last year.
Despite entering the India Open as the world no. 2, Satwik and Chirag experienced a tense final loss against world champions Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Sang Jae on Sunday.
In other rankings for Indians, HS Prannoy climbed one place to reach world no. 8, while Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, and Priyanshu Rajawat maintained their positions at 19th, 25th, and 30th spots, respectively.
